Will Witherspoon now a Titan

With the lack of the resigning of players in free agency the Titans have picked up a new player who looks to be pretty good. David Thornton is thinking about retirement and no word that is positive about Keith Bulluck's return to the Titans, the Titans have signed a new outside or inside linebacker in Will Witherspoon. This is the fourth different team for the eight year veteran. He was drafted by the Panthers in 2002 where he spent four seasons and then to the Rams, he was with the Rams until a mid-season trade to the Eagles last season. Witherspoon has said that the release from Philidelphia was a surprise but he is excited to be playing for the Titans. Witherspoon has signed a three-year deal worth $11 million and $3 million guaranteed. His best season stats were in 2007 with the St. Louis Rams, he totaled 132 tackles, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, and ten passes defensedhttp://titansradio.com/Article.asp?id=1726935&spid=27572. His career stats are consisted of, 743 tackles(612 solo, 131 assisted), 20 sackes, 8 forced fumbles, and 9 interceptions.http://espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=3601

Titans Free Agency pt.2

One day after my last blog the Tennessee Titans tenderd all six of their restricted free agents listhttp://titansradio.com/Article.asp?id=1720172&spid=27572. Keith Bulluck, Kyle Vanden Bosch, and Kevin Mawae are the main unrestricted free agents. Keith Bulluck is without a doubt going to be playing next year it's just not for certain who. Jeff Fisher has said he would like for Bulluck to finish his career in Tennessee and retire with the Titans. It seems that Bulluck would like to stay but the Titans have made no effort to for sure keep him. Kevin Mawae has "not shut the door on the titans"http://titansradio.com/Article.asp?id=1719562&spid=27572, but I do not see him with the Titans next season. I think Kevin has one or two more years left in him to start in the NFL. Having said that he probably will not return to the Titans, because they want to play younger players and get them more experience. It's not a bad thing to go to the younger players and get them better. Starting younger players means good news bad news for Kyle Vanden Bosch. Bad news first, he will possibly not return to the Titans which a lot of Titans fans will hate to see including myself, but his performance has went down since the loss of DT Albert Haynesworth. Good news, he will get his second new start with a new team, which will be good for him because he is still a very good DE and can still help a team with a bigger DT to take a double team.

Titans Free Agency

With days winding down the Titans have signed only a C rated Guard and a less than average safety. They have neglected to start talking and signing their big stars. Keith Bulluck, one of the best linebackers in the NFL, has stated that he wants to stay in Tennesse, but doesnt see himself in a Titans uniform next season. Kyle Vanden Bosch a very solid Defensive End for the Titans, has been talking to the organization even before the season ended but they have yet to reach a deal, but after his performance last year(44 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 3 sacks) he's probablly wanting more money than he deserves. Kevin Mawae is one of the all time great Centers in the NFL, he has played for 17 seasons in the NFL and is starting to get older. The Titans have already said that if they do get Mawae to return it would be as a back up, which does not look like it would settle well with him. Bo Scaife has done really well as a Titan and is still growing. He has a lot of learing to do and still has a good, long carrer ahead for himself and the Titans would make a mistake not signing him eventhough they have a good looking TE returing next year in Jared Cook Jr. LenDale White his stats were not the greatest in 2009 but he did not get the ball as a lot of more people including LenDale himself would have liked to have seen. White compliments second year sensation CJ2K very well looking back at Johnsons rookie season when they spit the carries more evenly. The Titans have said they would like to keep White and possibly tender him. David Thornton would not be a huge loss for the Titans with the Titans having a good looking Linebacker in Gerald McRath. The Titans have also been talking with veteran Cornerback Nick Harper. As much as the Titans staff like Harper I would not mind one bit if they signed a younger, better player in free agency, or mabey even draft a good CB/Kick returner. The Titans have a lot on their hands this off-season. Most experts have them taking a DE in the first round,http://http://www.nfl.com/draft/story?id=09000d5d816b3cfa&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true but we'll see what they do and hopefully they won't screw the team up.
